For this federal holiday, many institutions close. Here's a look at what's affected today:
- All branches of the Brooklyn Public Library are closed today.
-Â There is no garbage or recycling collection. If Monday is your regular garbage collection day, put your garbage out after 4:00 PM Monday evening. If Monday is your regular recycling day, wait until next week to put your recycling out.
- All government offices and courts are closed, as well as all public schools.
- Alternate side parking is suspended for today, but meters are on.
- Many local chains such as Rite Aid, Walgreens and others will be open.
