Former NYC Councilmember John Sabini Endorses Alfonso Quiroz

John D. Sabini, who served on the Council from 1992 to 2001 and New York State Senate from 2003 to 2008, endorses Quiroz in District 25.

Jackson Heights resident and long-time civic activist Alfonso Quiroz has gained another important endorsement in his bid for the District 25 City Council seat: John D. Sabini, who served on the New York City Council from 1992 to 2001 and in the New York State Senate from 2003 to 2008, today endorsed Quiroz, praising the candidate’s support for health-care for all and dedication to the community.

“Jackson Heights needs is a leader who brings a fresh perspective, who cares about bridging differences and addressing the needs of all communities, and not just a few,” John D. Sabini said. “I am proud to support Alfonso Quiroz because he is dedicated to the community where he has lived or worked for more than two decades. I have watched him support progressive, Democratic leaders, stand with those fighting for equity in health-care and a better quality of life, and work tirelessly to support constituents when he worked for the New York City Council.

He added, “Alfonso has deep roots in the community, and wants what is best for Jackson Heights and Elmhurst. I encourage voters to make him your number one choice on June 22.”

Quiroz said he and John Sabini share many of the same ideals when it comes to improving the quality-of-life of residents, workers, and students.

“This endorsement is gratifying because when John was in public service, he worked day-in and day-out to improve education, health-care and economic opportunities in ways that would benefit everyone, including those who struggle to support themselves and their families,” Quiroz said. “Those are the issues on the minds of voters in this district, and they are the issues that drive my passion to serve.”
