CORONA, QUEENS — A new drive-in movie festival in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park will offer free weekly film screenings, thanks to a partnership with the Queens borough president's office.

The free screenings will run for seven consecutive weeks as part of the nonprofit Rooftop Films' drive-in movie festival, which launched this month on the grounds of the Hall of Science and continues until October.

The series kicks off Wednesday with a showing of the documentary "John Lewis: Good Trouble," which chronicles the late congressman's life and history as a civil rights champion.

Each screening has space for about 200 cars. Pre-registration is required and opens online two weeks before each showing.

The nonprofit Flushing Meadows Corona Park Improvement Fund, which is overseen by Acting Queens Borough President Sharon Lee and New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, provided $70,000 to fund the free screenings.
