Vaccinated New Yorkers Can Win Free Governors Ball Tickets: Mayor
The mayor said vaccinated New Yorkers can win free tickets to NYC music festivals this summer, including Governors Ball in Queens.

FLUSHING, QUEENS — In his latest appeal to the vaccine-hesitant, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Thursday that vaccinated New Yorkers have a chance to win free tickets to NYC music festivals this summer.
After chowing down on a burger in the name of the city’s vaccination effort, the mayor announced at his daily press conference that vaccinated New Yorkers can win free tickets to the annual Global Citizen Live and Governors Ball music festivals — the latter of which will be held at Citi Field for the first time this year.
The burgers and tickets are two of several recent incentives — from seven-day subway passes, to free visits to the Bronx Zoo and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens — aimed at enticing New Yorkers to get the COVID-19 vaccine, as vaccination rates slow across the city.

While the mayor did not offer details on how people can get their free tickets to these festivals, he did invite King Princess onto his press briefing to talk more about Governors Ball, where she’ll be performing this year.
“I’m really excited to be a part of live music, especially now,” she said, adding “now more than ever people need that kind of energy transfer, that kind of performance to heal their souls.”

The mayor said he was “proud” that the Brooklyn-based and raised musician would be able to perform once again in New York, calling her debut single “1950,” a hit song about queer love, “absolutely enchanting and mesmerizing.”

In response to the praise King Princess said “thank you so much, thanks for having me. Get vaccinated please!” a message that the mayor said “couldn’t be clearer.”
This year's Governors Ball festival is slated to run from Friday September 24 through Sunday September 26. Tickets, many of which are sold out, are available here.
