MAP: Queens Schools That Have Reported Coronavirus Cases
Patch is tracking all the Queens public schools with confirmed COVID-19 cases, using data from the NYC Department of Education.
QUEENS, NY — As the largest school system in the United States heads back to the classroom amid a pandemic, all eyes are on New York City's coronavirus case count among educators, staffers and students.
In Queens, more than two dozen public schools had reported a case of the virus among a member of their community as of Wednesday, according to NYC Department of Education data.
Most have reported just one case of COVID-19, and, in some instances, the individual with the virus had not been in the school building. Two schools closed temporarily after two cases were reported within seven days, in accordance with Department of Education protocol.

Patch is tracking all the Queens schools with confirmed COVID-19 cases, using information sent to reporters by the Department of Education. Schools where individuals with the virus had not reported to the building are labeled accordingly, though the agency did not initially distinguish between those who had been to school and those who hadn't.
"While we continue to navigate the realities of a pandemic, there will be positive cases," the Department of Education said in a statement earlier this month. "We are putting people's health above everything else by quickly identifying and isolating positive cases to prevent further transmission."
