QUEENS, NY -- The much-awaited holiday weekend is finally here, which means Memorial Day BBQs, beach days and other fun activities are upon us.

Memorial Day Fair

Neighborhood: Sunnyside

What: Kick off summer at this annual fair, featuring performances by local dance troupes and musical acts, an all-American BBQ, beer and wine, cotton candy, craft beer ice cream and more. Kids can enjoy the fair's amusement park rides, a bouncy house and Memorial Day-themed arts and crafts. Admission is free and tickets for rides, activities and refreshments are available for purchase.

When: Saturday, May 26, noon - 5 p.m.

What: Enjoy live entertainment all day an Authentic Czech and Slovak Cuisine. There will also be raffle whose first-place prize is a round trip to Prague.

When: Saturday, May 26, and Sunday, May 27, noon - midnight


"The Yard" Grand Opening & Memorial Day BBQ

Neighborhood: Jamaica

What: Celebrate the grand opening in your best white apparel at “ The Yard” Outdoor Lounge with a Memorial Day BBQ Party. Entry costs $25 - or $20 if your dressed in all white - and includes free food, drinks and music. Patrons must be 21 and older to enter.

First Annual Arts & Crafts Fair

Neighborhood: Ridgewood

What: More than 30 artists, performers and crafters will be at the Friends of the Ridgewood Library's craft fair. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps "EMS Day" Open House

Neighborhood: Forest Hills

What: Tour the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps' headquarters at this open house featuring ambulance tours, music, a free BBQ, kids' treats and more.

Where: Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 92-29 Metropolitan Ave.

When: Saturday, May 26, noon - 6 p.m.


"Memories of Migration" Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration

Neighborhood: Forest Hills

What: The Forest Hills Asian Association hosts Korean American Artist EunWoo Nam, who will lead an interactive drawing activity inspired by community members' personal migration stories.

Free Schola Sine Nomine Choral Concert

Neighborhood: Kew Gardens

What: Enjoy a free evening concert of classic choral pieces by Ozone Park-based chorus, Schola Sine Nomine, followed by a reception with light refreshments. Admission is free for those who RSVP in advance to info@friendsofmaplegrove.org or $5 at the door.

Movies Under The Stars: 'Captain Underpants'

Neighborhood: Rego Park

What: As part of its citywide Movies Under the Stars series, NYC Parks will host a showing of the family-friendly movie "Captain Underpants" in Painter's Playground. A limited supply of chairs will be available, so feel free to bring a blanket. No glass is allowed, but bottled water is okay.

Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade

Neighborhood: Douglaston

What: Check out what organizers claim is the largest Memorial Day parade in the country. The parade down a 1.5-mile stretch of Northern Boulevard will this year honor the 65th anniversary of the Korean War cease-fire.

Where: Start at Northern Boulevard and Jayson Avenue

When: Monday, May 28, 2 - 4:45 p.m.
