Native American Powwow And Surf Film Fest | Queens Weekend Events

Pal around at a powwow. Drink some beer. Surf the seas — and watch a movie while you're at it. Queens has it all this weekend.

QUEENS, NY — Are you a surfer, a film buff or a beer aficionado? Have you ever been interested in learning more about Native American culture? If so, Queens may have what you're looking for this weekend. Here's the lowdown.

40th Annual Thunderbird American Indian Mid-Summer Powwow
Neighborhood:
Little Neck
What: A three-day event featuring intertribal, Native American dance competitions and a large selection of Native American jewelry, art and food. All are invited to attend.
Where: Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway
When: The festivities begin Friday at 7 p.m.

6th Annual New York Women’s Surf Film Festival
Neighborhood:
Rockaway Beach, Hammels
What: This three-day event includes a Friday opening exhibit and film festival and a Saturday surf market with film screenings. A Sunday beach cleanup and paddle out will close out the weekend.
Where: Rockaway Beach Surf Club, Beach 87th Street at Rockaway Freeway
When: The festival begins Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 7 a.m.

Friends "Brunch" Trivia
Neighborhood:
Long Island City
What: Test your “Friends” knowledge in teams and compete against your neighbors during this free, five-round trivia event.
Where: Alewife Taproom, 51st Avenue between Vernon Boulevard and Fifth Street
When: Saturday at 1 p.m.

Cheers To QNS! A Queens Beer Festival
Neighborhood:
Long Island City
What: Taste test beers from more than a dozen Queens-based brewing companies as you enjoy live music and tasty food. All proceeds benefit the Hunter’s Point Park Conservancy.
Where: LIC Landing, Center Boulevard near Borden Avenue
When: Start sipping Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

What: This free pop-up class features a 60-minute, total-body workout is followed by a post-exercise chill session at Anable Basin bar and grill.

When: Sunday at 11 a.m.

Fabolous Live Concert
Neighborhood:
Astoria
What: The famed Brooklyn rapper comes to Queens for a headlining performance.
Where: The Garden at Studio Square NYC, 36th Street between 35th and 36th avenues
When: Doors open Sunday at 5 p.m.

Michael Cera: The Comedy Show
Neighborhood:
Woodside
What: An evening of chuckles from comics like Caitlin Peluffo, Nick Milton, Dan Perlman and more, hosted by Peter Wong. Michael Cera will “probably not” be attending the show.
Where: The Misfit Hive, 61st Street at 38th Avenue
When: Let the laughs begin Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
