New Rapid Coronavirus Testing Site Coming To Southeast Queens

Getting COVID-19 test results could take as little as 15 minutes at a new testing site opening in Queens on Friday.

OZONE PARK, QUEENS — A new rapid COVID-19 testing site will open Friday at the Ozone Park Library, as the city doubles down on its hyperlocal efforts to curb the spread of the virus.

Getting test results could take as little as 15 minutes at the new site, according to Ted Long, executive director of the city's Test and Trace Corps. The tests will be free.

City officials chose Ozone Park for the new rapid testing facility because the neighborhood had a high positivity rate and "lower testing levels than we want to have," Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters Tuesday.

The city's previous hyperlocal responses focused on driving down the percent of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and Soundview in The Bronx.

Starting Friday, rapid tests will be available every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ozone Park Library, located at 92-24 Rockaway Blvd.
