Pride Parade Kicks Off LGBT History Month | Queens Weekend Events
There's a lot going on in Queens this weekend.

QUEENS, NY – Pride is marching through Jackson Heights, runners are winding along Long island City's waterfront and volunteers are gathering to clean up a borough park.

LIC Post Waterfront 5k
Neighborhood: Long Island City
What: The third annual run and walk along the beautiful Long Island City waterfront will benefit the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy.

It’s My Park Volunteer Clean Up
Neighborhood: Corona
What: Cleaning up William F Moore Park with the Queens Borough President’s Office

Neighborhood: Jackson Heights
What: Queens has held its own LGBTQ Pride Parade since 1993. Prepare for the bigger citywide parade later this month with a more local (and accessible) parade right in your own backyard.

Drag Queen Story Hour
Neighborhood: Flushing
What: Drag Queens are coming to the Queens Botanical Garden to tell happy stories about their childhood years, make some fun crafts, and teach children about their lives.

Queens Botanical Garden Rainbow Walk
Neighborhood: Flushing
What: If parade crowds aren’t your thing, go for a relaxing rainbow walk at the Queens Botanical Garden in honor of pride. A tour guide will tell you about the rainbow plants they have on display in honor of LGBT History Month.

Queens Craft Brigade
Neighborhood: Astoria
What: Want a momento to remember your prideful weekend in Queens? Support local artists by buying a flea market treasure through the Queens Craft Brigade.
Where: Rocco Morretto Post, 31-35 41st St
When: Sunday 12 PM - 5 p.m.
NYC Special Olympics Queens Torch Run
Neighborhood: Jamaica
What: Law enforcement will carry a lit “torch of hope” along a 5k route leading to the opening of the local special olympics. It is a citywide event, and this portion of run is just the Queens leg of it. Cheer them on or sponsor a local runner on their website.

When: Sunday 8 a.m.
Free Kayaking Season Kickoff
Neighborhood: Long Island City
What: Paddle through the East River and take in some of the best city views from the water for free.
Where: Anable Basin and Hallets Cove, LIC Boathouse
When: 10:15 a.m. or 4 p.m. Sunday
Family Day With Council Member Rory Lancman
Neighborhood: Utopia
What: Bring your kids to meet with your local council member.
Where: Utopia Playground
When: Sunday 1-4 p.m.
