Queens Holiday Recipe: Stoney And Scarlet Negronis
Queens is serving its Negronis with wood-aged gin and an extra cannabis kick.
QUEENS, NEW YORK -- These Negronis need wood and weed.
Queens mixologists have been having some fun with the classic Italian cocktail, which one bar serves aged and the other with a little magic.
The not-so-secret ingredient in Adriaen Block's celebrated signature cocktails is CBD tincture, a cannabis compound that, apologies, will not get you high but might produce "a calming sensation" helpful when dealing with Santa-related things.

"It's a new trend we're trying to create," manager Lenard Mokus told Patch when the bar opened in Astoria this summer. "I think people are going to have a really great experience."
For those not looking to be mellowed by their cocktail, can whip up a spicy Scarlet Negroni with barrel-aged booze from The Bonnie.

“Barrel aging is a fun way to integrate the flavors of your ingredients in a different way from mixing outside the barrel," said bar director Mike Di Tota. "The wood imparts its own character."
Both recipes suggest some specialty shopping, should you decide to make the cocktails as the bartenders do, but the cocktails can also be made without.

Adriaen Block's Stoney Negroni
Ingredients:
- 1 ounce Cocchi Americano
- 1 ounce Tio Pepe dry sherry
- 1 ounce Floc de Gascogne
- Angostura bitters
- CBD tincture
Directions:
- Fill a cocktail mixing glass with ice a few dashes of Angostura bitters.
- Add Cocchi Americano, Tio pepe dry sherry and Floc de Gascogne and stir for about 30 seconds.
- Pour the mixture into a chilled glass over one large ice cube and garnish with orange peel.
- Top with droplets of CBD tincture, if using.

The Bonnie's Scarlet Negroni
Ingredients:
- 1.5 ounces Benham's Gin
- 3/4 ounce Dopo Teatro Vermouth Amaro
- 1/2 ounce Bonal
- 1/2 ounce Campari
- 1/4 ounce Damson Plum Gin Liqueur
- Orange twist, for garnish
Directions:
- Stir ingredients in a mixing glass with ice
- Strain into a double rocks glass with one large ice cube.
- Add garnish
