Rentals For $1K Or Less In Queens
Living at any one of these Queens addresses will cost you no more than $1,000 a month. Yes, really.

QUEENS, NY -- Living anywhere on the cheap in New York City is rough, and Queens is no exception. Rent that costs less than your paycheck? Talk about unlikely.
That's why Patch is rounding up a list of places up for rent on Realtor.com for $1,000 or less. And while some of them admittedly come with catches - like, say, roommates or a strict "no sleepovers" policy - a select few really are just that cheap.

171 W Commodore Circle, Queens, NY

Neighborhood: Arvene
Price: $900/month
The Catch: So, obviously a house this big doesn't come without roommates. But, sharing your space might be worth it to live in the furnished(!!) room up for rent in this townhome, which, by the way, is within walking distance of the beach.
46-29 162nd St, Queens, NY

Neighborhood: Murray Hill
Price: $1,000/month
58-03 Metropolitan Ave Unit 1R, Queens, NY

Neighborhood: Ridgewood
Price: $800/month
The Catch: Okay, so by the looks of it, you may be living in a studio apartment above a pawn shop and a nail salon, but for rent this cheap, how much do you really care?
16605 Highland Ave, Queens, NY

Neighborhood: Jamaica
Price: $850/month
The Catch(es): Warning: This one has quite a few. First of all, you will have two roommate - a "loving couple," in fact - and they're looking for a pretty specific candidate to share this two bedroom apartment with. Their preferences include: a "professional" female who is a nonsmoker, has no pets, no male visitors and no "sleepovers" - Oh, and taking your shoes off before entering the house is a MUST (Their words, not mine). But if you fit the mold and are willing to meet their requirements, you can rent a room in this house without signing a contract! Learn more here.
224-14 143rd Ave, Queens, NY

Neighborhood: Springfield Gardens
Cost: $800/month
The Catch: The cost of rent includes only one of the four bedrooms in this spacious brick home, meaning - yes - you'll have to share a bathroom, kitchen and common area with roommates. But this house's proximity to the LIRR, JFK Airport and MTA bus stations alone is worth the low cost you'll pay.
1815 Palmetto St, Queens, NY

Neighborhood: Ridgewood
Price: $1,000/month
The Catch: This too is a roommate-contingent deal. The residents of this four-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom apartment describe themselves as "young laid back students or young professionals" looking to fill their last room. But wait, not only is this room huge enough to fit two queen-sized beds (so they say), but it also comes with its own private full bathroom. The apartment also comes with in-unit laundry, a renovated kitchen and *gasp* a backyard. Sorry animal lovers, no pets allowed.
99-20 194th St Unit Room, Queens, NY

Neighborhood: Hollis
Price: $950/month
The Catch: Unfortunately, the rent you'll pay is only for one unfurnished room in this house, meaning you'll have to share its bathroom and kitchen. But hey, nobody said rent this low would be glamorous, right?
