Many NYC Flights Canceled In Aftermath Of Nor'easter

Around 40 flights have already been canceled at JFK, 70 at LaGuardia and another 60 at Newark.

QUEENS, NY -- The snow may have stopped falling in New York City, but the nightmare isn't over yet for its airports, who will spend Thursday recovering from the nor'easter.

John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International airports expect to see a busy day of long airport security lines, full flights and, of course, dozens of flight cancelations as they attempt to get back on track after the snow storm.

JFK tweeted on Thursday morning that recovery was "well underway" at the airport, which expected around 40 cancelations for the day. LaGuardia expected another 70 cancelations and a busy day of full flights at the airport. Newark in New Jersey reported another 60 cancelations for the day and longer security lines than usual.

Flyers are advised to allow extra time for their commutes to the airport and check their flight status before leaving.

The nor'easter caused nearly 2,000 flight cancelations between the three airports when it hit on Wednesday. JFK tallied up more than 500, LaGuardia nearly 600 and Newark nearly 700 by the day's end.
