Shakespeare In The Garden | Queens This Weekend

Check out some family-friendly theater, clean up trash at your local park and bike through eastern Queens.

QUEENS, NY — Does theater strike your fancy? How about volunteer work, or maybe a scenic bike ride? There's so much to do in Queens this weekend. Here's what's going on.

Hip to Hip Theatre Presents “Shakespeare in the Garden”
Neighborhood:
Flushing
What: A free, family-friendly performance of Shakespeare’s famed play, “King Lear.” A pre-show workshop will introduce kids to the characters and situations brought up throughout the play.
Where: Inside the garden at Voelker Orth Museum, 38th Avenue at 149th Place
When: Children’s workshop begins Friday at 7 p.m. Performance is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Little Bay Park Cleanup
Neighborhood:
Bay Terrace
What: Fight back against litter and help clean up the park and bay shoreline. Free kayaking will be offered for all volunteers once the event concludes.
Where: Little Bay Park
When: Saturday at 10 a.m.

Murray's Cheese Caves Tour & Tasting
Neighborhood:
Long Island City
What: Learn about the art of aging cheese and participate in a tasting of six different reserve cheeses.
Where: Murray's Cheese Distribution Center
When: Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Tour de Flushing
Neighborhood:
Flushing
What: This free, family-friendly, 12-to-15-mile bike ride through eastern Queens finishes up in downtown Flushing. Free valet bike parking will be available at the Flushing Quaker Meeting House for those who wish to stop for lunch once the tour is over.
Where: Kissena Corridor Park at Main Street and Elder Avenue
When: Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

New York Cocktail Expo
Neighborhood:
Long Island City
What: Experience cocktail, spirit, beer and cider tastings. Check out the rum room. Taste test the drinks that could earn Best Cocktail awards. Discounted tickets are available with promo code. Click here for more information. Rooftop after-party will follow.
