Two Teen Girls Hit By Car, One Killed in Ozone Park Accident

The two 13-year-olds were crossing Cross Bay Boulevard when a sedan hit both of them Monday morning.

OZONE PARK, NY — Two 13-year-old girls were walking to school on Monday morning when they were struck by a car on Cross Bay Boulevard, killing one of the girls and seriously injuring the other.

According to police, the two teens were crossing Cross Bay Boulevard near 149th Avenue at 6:42 a.m. when a Chevy sedan traveling southbound struck the two girls. Paramedics transported both teenagers to Jamaica Medical Center, where one was pronounced dead due to a serious head injury, police said. The other teen suffered a leg injury and was listed in stable condition, according to police.

Police said Jazmine Marin, 13, from 107th Avenue in Jamaica was killed in the accident. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

The NYPD's Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is further investigating the accident.

There have been two car accidents at 149th Avenue and Cross Bay Boulevard since Sept. 30, but no one was injured in either accident, according to Motor Vehicle data.
