The Queens Adventist Youth Confederation will spend Thanksgiving Day boxing up hot meals for shelters and community centers in Jamaica and Rockaway Beach.

As part of an outreach program that's been going on for more than a decade, the youth group collected enough food for 1,448 Thanksgiving meals this year, said member Malinda Madhoo. All are welcome to join the youth group in boxing the holiday meals this year into styrofoam containers at the Linda SDA Church, located at 228-20 137th Ave. in Laurelton, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They will be serving up Thanksgiving favorites like turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes, Madhoo said.

Thanksgiving Celebration Feast

New Yorkers in need of a Thanksgiving meal - or just some company - are invited to join The Rock Churches in Elmhurst for "feasts, celebration and a whole lotta love." Churches from across New York City will gather at The Rock's central location, 57-02 Hoffman Drive, with a variety of dishes inspired from cultures around the world, said a manager for The Rock Churches.

The Rock will host three Thanksgiving feasts at 3, 4 and 6 p.m. Each will offer a diverse mix of cuisines prepared by the church's Philippine, Chinese and Spanish communities alongside traditional Thanksgiving turkey and vegetarian dinners.

"We all pitch in because we're a global church," the manager said. "Whenever we have a Thanksgiving feast, usually there is such an assortment of dishes served."

All are welcome to the free dinners and encouraged to bring a friend, the manager said. For more information on The Rock Churches, visit their website or call 718-651-2950.
