Win Shoes Signed By David Villa In Queensboro FC Sweepstakes

Spanish soccer star David Villa is giving away a pair of signed boots to promote Queens' new pro soccer team, Queensboro FC.

QUEENS, NY — Spanish soccer star David Villa is giving away a pair of signed boots to promote the new pro soccer team Queensboro FC, which will start playing in Queens in 2021.

Villa, the Spanish national team's all-time leading goal scorer, founded the team with a group of investors.

It will play in the United Soccer League Championship, the second division of professional soccer after Major League Soccer.

"We are excited to continue growing our fan base here in Queens and to bring the world’s game to the world’s borough," Jonathan Krane, principal owner of Queensboro FC, said.

Queensboro FC will play home matches at a new stadium at York College in Jamaica, which will have a capacity of about 7,500, according to an ESPN report. The team will also host select home games at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets.

The sweepstakes is open until Feb. 3, and Villa himself will hand the boots to the lucky winner during a fan event Feb. 5.
