JAMAICA, QUEENS — Appointments at York College's massive new COVID-19 vaccination site are now open to all eligible Queens residents, rather than just those in select ZIP codes.

Anyone living in Queens who meets the current eligibility criteria — thanks to their age, occupation or underlying health conditions — can now make an appointment for a coronavirus vaccine at the site, after the state expanded eligibility Saturday.

The York College vaccination site, which opened last week, has the capacity to inoculate 3,000 people a day, according to the governor's office.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is running the site in partnership with the state.

At first, vaccines were only available to eligible Queens residents living in certain communities with high rates of positive COVID-19 tests and low vaccination rates — an effort to promote equity after data showed that white New Yorkers have received a disproportionate number of the vaccines so far administered.
