You Can Apply To Be A Ball Person At The 2021 U.S. Open In Queens
The U.S. Open begins August 24 in Flushing. Anyone over the age of 16 who wants to be a ball person has six days left to apply for the job.
FLUSHING, QUEENS — There’s less than a week left to apply for the job of running after loose tennis balls during this year’s U.S. Open Tennis Championships.
Anyone over the age of 16 who wants to be a ball person in this year's U.S. Open, which will run from August 24 through September 12 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, must complete the online application by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16.
Some applicants will be chosen for an in-person tryout “shortly after,” according to the U.S. Open.

CBSNY reported that the tournament is looking to fill 65 ball person positions.
Every chosen ball person will be paid $15 an hour — for 8 hour days on average — and will get to keep their official U.S. Open Polo Ralph Lauren uniform after the event ends, according to the U.S. Open.

After being closed to spectators in 2020, this year’s tennis tournament is welcoming fans back to the courts at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
