Free Neighborhood Ensemble Concerts Continue In Rochester

On three Tuesdays in July, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra comes to different neighborhoods for a night of free music.

From the City of Rochester: Week 2 of the City’s "Around the Town" concert series continues this evening with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s (RPO) Wind Quintet at Susan B. Anthony Square, 31 Madison St.

Each Tuesday, the Around the Town series brings an RPO ensemble into a different neighborhood for a night of free music. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. The RPO ensembles play from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. each week.

  • Tuesday, July 16: Southwest Quadrant: RPO Wind Quintet- Susan B. Anthony Square, 31 Madison St. Rain location: The DePaul Carriage Factory Apartments, 33 Litchfield St.
  • Tuesday, July 23: Northwest Quadrant: RPO String Quartet- Maplewood Rose Garden Pavilion, 24 Driving Park Ave. Rain location: Edgerton R-Center, 41 Backus St.
  • Tuesday, July 30: Northeast Quadrant: RPO Marimba Band- Southeast Corner of Joseph & Clifford, 576 Joseph Ave. Rain location: Avenue D R-Center, 200 Avenue D.

Now in its fifth year, the concert series is produced in partnership with the Maplewood Neighborhood Association, the Susan B. Anthony Neighborhood Association, the Joseph Avenue Arts and Culture Alliance and the Park Avenue Neighborhood Association.
