Mayor Lovely A. Warren Releases Statement On Reaching 1,000 Covid Deaths In Monroe County
"Today marks a grim milestone in our fight to contain COVID-19."
February 3 2021
Today marks a grim milestone in our fight to contain COVID-19, and I know from personal experience that this number represents much more than a statistic or tally. I hope this number serves as a reminder that we must redouble our efforts to protect our circles and limit the pain and suffering caused by this virus, especially among our minority communities who continue to bare a disproportionate share of the burden. We must also ensure the equitable distribution of the vaccine and adequate availability of testing. The Apostle Paul told us “suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope.” So, let our hope for celebrating the end of this pandemic with those we love help keep us focused on staying healthy and safe.
