Rochester’s Fall Loose Leaf Collection Continues

Residents must place loose leaves between the sidewalk and the curb in order to have them picked up.

November 20 2020

The City’s Department of Environmental Services (DES) will continue collecting loose leaves in Rochester’s northwest and southeast neighborhoods until it completes the entire service area. When the City began collecting leaves in the first week of November, it was anticipated that leaf collection operations would be complete by November 20.

However, “This year the trees shed their leaves completely, so it’s taking us a little longer to pick them all up,” said Karen St. Aubin, the City’s DES Director of Operations. “We are having great success collecting leaves this season because we didn’t get the early snowfall that we saw last year and we the had ideal weather conditions for trees to shed their leaves. Residents should be assured that we’ll continue working until our schedule is completed.”

Residents must place loose leaves between the sidewalk and the curb in order to have them picked up. For more information, residents can call 311 (outside city limits, (585) 428-5990), or visit http://www.cityofrochester.gov/leaves.
