Rochester School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Rochester is September 6. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Rochester School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/6: School Opens (Full day for PreK-12 students)

October

• 10/6: Superintendent’s Conference Day (No school for students)
• 10/9: Columbus Day Holiday (All Facilities Closed)
• 10/10: Parent/Teacher Conferences/Elementary
• 10/12: Parent/Teacher Conferences/Secondary

November

• 11/10: Veterans Day Holiday (All Facilities Closed)
• 11/22: Recess Day
• 11/23-24: Thanksgiving Recess (All Facilities Closed)

December

• 12/25-29: Winter Recess (25 – 26 All Facilities Closed)

January

• 1/1: New Year’s Day Holiday (All Facilities Closed)
• 1/2: School Resumes
• 1/15: Martin Luther King Day Holiday (All Facilities Closed)
• 1/22-25: Regents Exams

February

• 2/19: Presidents Day Holiday (All Facilities Closed)
• 2/19-23: Mid-Winter Recess

March

• 3/6: Parent/Teacher Conferences/Elementary
• 3/8: Parent/Teacher Conferences/Secondary
• 3/30: Good Friday (No school)

April

• 4/2-6: Spring Recess
• 4/6: Make-Up Day for Emergency Closings
• 4/23: Superintendent’s Conference Day (No school for students)

May

• 5/28: Memorial Day Holiday (All Facilities Closed)

June

• 6/5: Transition Regents Exam in Global History and Geography, Gr 10
• 6/12-21: Regents Exams (No exams on 6/15 and 6/22)
• 6/15 & 6/22: Rating Day (No exams)
• 6/21: Last Day of School for PreK-12 Students
• 6/22: Superintendent's Conference Day/Last Day of School for Teachers
