Metro-North To Lease Rye Station Building
The railroad is looking for a new tenant to reinvigorate the underutilized space.

RYE, NY — MTA Metro-North Railroad announced plans Tuesday to reinvigorate the Rye Station. The railroad is asking qualified applicants to submit proposals to assume the lease for the Rye Station house, with the goal of transforming the underutilized space, enhancing amenities and creating a more customer-friendly environment.
The Rye Station building has an open, mid-20th century modern design and offers 2,000 square feet of interior space for the tenant’s non-exclusive use. The east, west and south facades of the station building are surrounded by windows approximately 15 feet in height. The new tenant would be free to reimagine how to configure the station building’s waiting area, but the design must accommodate Metro-North customers. The station’s ticket window will remain in use.
Metro-North will consider all professional uses for the proposed space that will help make the station building a more appealing venue for both commuters and residents, according to a spokeswoman.

The tenant selected to operate the space will be required to improve customer amenities, including installing new fixtures and creating a new seating area.
“Renovating the Rye station will only make the commute more pleasant for the over 2,400 customers who use the station every week,” said Catherine Rinaldi, president of Metro-North Railroad. “We’re always looking for ways to improve the commute for our customers, and revitalizing the Rye station building is one small way we to do just that.”

The MTA’s criteria for selecting the tenant includes financial strength, management expertise, the business plan, track record of the proposer, compensation offered and the improvements proposed for the site. The selection process requires the completion of an extensive application.
MTA Real Estate partnered with Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., to market the space on behalf of the agency, and all proposals will be directed to Cushman & Wakefield for review.
Proposals must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018.
