Report: Sound Shore Waterfront Property Sales Increase

The report looks at shore-front real estate sales for Rye, Larchmont, New Rochelle and Mamaroneck.

RYE, NY - A new real estate report found that waterfront sales for high-end Long Island Sound properties increased from 2014 to 2015.

Released by William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty, the report said both unit sales and dollar volume experienced year over year increases, according to a prepared statement.

What was examined were Long Island Sound-front single-family homes priced over $1 million.

The sales dollar volume shoreline markets of Rye, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and New Rochelle grew by 14.6 percent from 2014 to 2015.

Officials said this was driven by an increase in volume in Rye by 90 percent.

Units sales were approximately even year over year in each of those communities.

Paul Breunich, president and CEO of William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty, said that the waterfront is a unique segment of the real estate market, especially considering the risk of flooding.

“The ongoing increase in waterfront sales activity is exciting news for our areas,” he said. “We will continue to watch this sector carefully throughout 2016.
