70-Year-Old Man In Critical Condition After Overturn Crash

The man's son was driving an SUV with a trailer attached on Sunrise Highway when the car struck a guardrail and overturned Monday night.

SAYVILLE, NY — A 70-year-old man was critically injured in a car crash on Sunrise Highway in Sayville Monday night, according to Suffolk police.

Joel Kramer II, 31, of Lindenhurst was driving a 2007 Ford Expedition with a small trailer attached eastbound on Sunrise Highway, just east of Lincoln Avenue, when he lost control of the SUV, struck a guardrail and overturned at 5:05 p.m., police said.

His father, Joel Kramer I, of Bay Shore, was a passenger in the car and was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition, police said.

Kramer II was taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Ford and trailer were impounded for safety checks.
