Bayport-Blue Point High Schoolers Travel With Technology

Students in Keith Scharf's Spanish class used Google Maps' sphere and street view features to explore Spanish-speaking countries.

Thanks to the use of technological platforms, students in Keith Scharf’s Spanish level 3 classes at Bayport-Blue Point High School traveled the globe without ever leaving their classroom.

Utilizing Google Maps’ sphere and street view features, as well as Google Earth, each student explored a different Spanish-speaking country.

They then used screen recording software Screencastify to record their virtual journey and add voiceover to the video, describing the various destinations in Spanish.

Each student then presented their video using Google Slides so that all of their classmates could go on the virtual adventure beside them.

This engaging project taught the students about the geography and culture of several Spanish-speaking countries while allowing them to practice their Spanish language skills.
