Bayport-Blue Point Students Named AP Scholars

The Bayport-Blue Point School District's College Board has designated 68 students as Advanced Placement Scholars.

Bayport-Blue Point School District is proud to announce that the College Board has designated 68 students as Advanced Placement Scholars.

This year, 27 students earned the title of AP Scholar for receiving scores of three or higher on three or more AP Exams. Fifteen were named AP Scholar with Honors for earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of three or higher on four or more of these exams; 26 were named AP Scholars with Distinction for earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of three or higher on five or more of these exams. Of these scholars, seven students also earned the highest recognition of National AP Scholar, for receiving an average score of at least four on all AP exams taken and scores of four or higher on eight or more of these exams.

The high school’s AP Program – which has grown in popularity and in course offerings over the past several years – includes a variety of programs that engage students in intense discussions, problem-solving concepts and collaborative activities. In addition, AP college-level courses and exams give students the opportunity to earn college credit and priority placement so that they stand out in the admissions process. In 2007, 106 BBP students were enrolled in the high school’s AP courses. During the 2014-15 school year, that number rose to 258 students. During the same time frame, the number of students scoring three or better on the associated exam also grew from 143 to 381.
