BLUE POINT, NY — Thanks to a game of wiffle ball, four Blue Point brothers came up with the idea for a unique, new sports game. Now, the four are bringing their idea to life, launching a Kickstarter this week to help them with their business.

Greg, Eric, Kyle and Jack Greiner invented the game RallyHoops, which is a mix of volleyball and basketball. The brothers have spent endless summer playing sports in their Long Island backyard, or at local parks and beaches. But after coming up with the initial idea for this new game in an annual charity wiffle ball tournament, the brothers decided to bring this idea to reality.

Two weeks after coming up with RallyHoops, the four created the first working prototype, drew up a detailed rulebook, and named the game.

Afterward, they quickly decided to expand on this idea by creating the company, filing for a patent, and developing a more advanced prototype.

The game comes with two bases, two retractable poles, four hoops, a ball pump, and a RallyHoops ball to be played on any terrain. There are two different sized hoops set up on each side of the court. The product comes in a portable briefcase and is easy to set up and pack up.

"Our goal with RallyHoops was to create an exciting, portable sports game that blends volleyball with basketball. RallyHoops' simple design makes it game-ready anytime, anywhere, so whether it's in the backyard, the beach, or an indoor court, a game of RallyHoops is only a few seconds away," a statement from Team RallyHoops reads.

In order to really expand their business, the brothers launched the Kickstarter campaign on Wednesday, which allows customers to place their orders for the game.

"At this point, we have a quality product, a growing brand, and a fun game with detailed rules. We also have an established company, partnered with a valued manufacturer, filed patents and trademarks, and tested numerous prototypes," the group wrote on the Kickstarter page. "Now we're prepared to fulfill the first large order of RallyHoops and start building a community of RallyHoops players nationwide."

The goal was to raise $8,000 and in one day since the campaign launched, the Kickstarter received $25,590.

A limited number of rewards will be reserved for VIP and early bird backers. Those who ordered should receive their RallyHoops this summer.
