Blue Point Elementary Students Win Sharp Shooter Basketball Competition

Two Blue Point Elementary School students ­– Michael Kiernan and Tessa Orgonas – captured top awards at this year’s Town of Islip Sharp Shooter Basketball Competition.

Demonstrating their free throw skills, the students competed against students from more than 40 local schools, each of which had a local grade level champion representing their respective building. As a result of their precision, Michael was named the runner-up in the fourth-grade competition and Tessa was crowned the first-place winner in the fifth-grade level.

This is the second year in a row the school has had a runner-up and the first time a Blue Point student has claimed the prize of a Town of Islip champion.
