Blue Point Fire Department Cancels Memorial Day Parade

While the department will not be holding its annual parade, a commemorative service will be streamed online on Monday.

BLUE POINT, NY — The Blue Point Fire Department announced on Friday that they have chosen to cancel the Memorial Day parade for this year.

The event was canceled due to "ongoing public health concerns," the department wrote in a post on Facebook.

However, the department stated they will still hold an annual commemorative service honoring fallen heroes.

While department members will be the only ones in attendance at the event in accordance with official guidelines, the service will be live-streamed through Facebook Live on Monday beginning at 10 a.m.
