Board Recognizes Cherry Avenue Science Fair Students
Several students were acknowledged at the April 20 in-person board of education meeting.

At the April 20 Sayville Board of Education meeting, citation recipients were allowed to attend in person under the new COVID-19 limitations. While the BOE members have always expressed their pride and joy at giving awards to students and staff, this meeting was an especially joyous one after a long absence.

The following students were Cherry Avenue School Science Fair Winners and will compete their science fair projects at Brookhaven National Laboratories Elementary Science Fair in May:
Catherine Croce – Grade 1; John Kreuscher – Grade 2; Daniel Friers – Grade 3; Michael Boyd – Grade 4; Timothy Holahan – Grade. 5. Presented by Principal Dr. Lisa Ihne and BOE Trustee Norm deVenau. Also, Dr. Ihne announced that Jane Southworth (not present for her award) was recognized for being nominated and selected to participate in the Long Island String Festival Association (LIFSA) virtual Jazz/Improvisation Workshop.
