Boat Burning Fun at the Maritime Museum
28th annual event includes food, raffle and other entertainment
Enjoy yourself on Oct.27 at the 28th annual boat burning at the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville.
Each year, the museum receives a donation of a large, wooden boat that is beyond repair. Loosely based on the Norse tradition of a Viking funeral, the boat is placed in the center of the museum’s property and set ablaze, to the delight of the many families in attendance.
Other activities include entertainment, and a boat raffle.
