Get Ready For The Coldest Long Island Thanksgiving in Decades
An Arctic front moving through the area this evening could also bring some snow on the busiest travel day of the year.

Thanksgiving on Long Island will likely be the coldest one in decades. An Arctic front moving through the area Wednesday evening will bring a chance of snow showers on the busiest travel day of the year.
The best chance for snow will be north and west of New York City, but a few brief snow showers are possible even on Long Island, mainly between 7 and 9 p.m., the National Weather Service says.
Snow squalls are already causing problems on the roads upstate. Check out the wild photo below shared on Twitter.

Thanksgiving will be dry and sunny, but you are not going to want to spend much time outside. The high on Thursday will be near 24 degrees. The current record low of 22 degrees for Nov. 22 at Long Island MacArthur Airport was set in 1987. We will likely break that Thursday with an expected low of 19 degrees.
With wind gusts topping 30 mph, wind chill temperatures will be in the single digits for most of the day Thursday.
