Grease Costume Contest, Willy Wonka At Sayville Drive-In Movie

SAYVILLE, NY — Drive-in movies have been a staple of Summer 2020 on Long Island, and one in Sayville later this month is adding contests and costumes to the fun. The Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce is hosting a fundraiser event on August 22 to benefit their small business relief fund, set up to help local establishments in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The drive-in movie event will feature two different showings: Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory at 8 p.m. and Grease at 10 p.m. at The Grange on Broadway Avenue. Tickets must be purchased in advance here.

The Willy Wonka showing will have a raffle contest with ten "golden tickets" to win. The airing of Grease will be accompanied by a costume contest with three prizes for the best 1950s era getups.

All the prizes are donated by local businesses. The event is sponsored by TD Bank and free popcorn will be on hand, along with an ice cream truck. A rain date of August 23 is set.
