Long Island Weather: Heat Wave On Its Way After Cool Start To June
Tired of this cold and cloudy beginning to the month? Relief is on the way.

If you are so done with this mostly cold, cloudy and drizzly start to June, relief is in sight. Temperatures are expected to soar over the weekend and into next week, hitting the mid-80s on the thermometer and bringing some sustained summer weather to Long Island.
The National Weather Service is expecting a "big change in weather/temperatures by early next week, with a potential 30 degree difference in high temperatures" compared to Tuesday's 55-degree day.
By Sunday, the service says "summer-like temperatures" will have moved into the area, "with the hottest day Monday, and possibly Tuesday."

The Weather Channel is predicting a similarly dramatic swing in temperatures for a lot of the Northeast.
"Over the weekend, however, the jet stream will bulge northward into southeastern Canada, allowing high pressure to develop at the surface over the eastern U.S.," the Weather Channel says. "This means there will be an increased chance for near- to above-average temperatures and lower chances for rain or thunderstorms."
