SAYVILLE, NY —Ron "6" Montgomery never expected to become "the juice man." But the Bay Shore resident found himself applying his entrepreneurial spirit to a homegrown juice business after seeing how beneficial fresh juices were for his mother, Willie Mae, during her fight with cancer five years ago.

Montgomery grew up in Central Islip and told Patch that growing up without "a silver spoon" but with a stable home and family launched him into a series of careers where has worked hard—from music and entertainment to restaurants and now, a new juice shop in downtown Sayville.

Early in 2020, at a crossroads in his life, after a bad car accident and a bout with COVID-19, Montgomery decided to look for his first brick-and-mortar location for Six Juice. After experimenting with different juice recipes for his mom, and then friends, he opened a kiosk in the Smith Haven Mall two years ago, selling his unique mixes, and then continued the business as an online delivery model. Now he's ready to open a physical location.

"Being from the area, I liked the community of Sayville. This is a family-oriented product," he said. "People on the South Shore are looking for something healthy."

Montgomery says he carefully considers the health benefits of all of his ingredients and creates his own juice combinations.

He wants the new Six Juice, which will open at 291A W. Main St. in Sayville, to be the flagship store for a future franchise. Montgomery is hoping to open this spring or summer. The shop will also offer vegan and vegetarian meals, snacks, acai bowls, coffee, and protein shakes.

But the juice will be the star:

"If I can get a three-year-old to drink kale and want more, I know I have a good product."
