SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - It looks like an official winner of the Suffolk County 8th Legislative District race won't be announced until next week. The hotly contest race between incumbent William Lindsay III and Anthony Piccirillo ended too close to call after Election Day last week.

According to the unofficial results, challenger Piccirillo (R) received 9,130 votes while Lindsay (D) received 8,907 votes. The Suffolk Board of Elections still have to count over 600 absentee and affidavit ballots before an official winner can be announced, which could sway the vote. Those votes will be counted on Nov. 19.

During the last election in 2017, Lindsay won by only 244 votes after all the absentee ballots were counted. However on election night 2017, Lindsay beat out Piccirillo. He received 9,954 votes that night while Piccirillo received 9,711.
