David Morrison, a long time Long Island Rail Road historian, former LIRR Montauk Branch manager, and author of several books on the Long Island Rail Road recently gave a Sunday afternoon talk sponsored by the Sayville Historical Society and the Sayville Public Library.Â
The subject of this talk was based on Morrison’s latest book, “Long Island Rail Road Stations."Â

One of the highlights was when he showed pictures of the Oakdale railroad station that was re-built by William K Vanderbilt for the marriage of his daughter Consuelo.Â
Of interest to the audience was the introduction of Charlotte and Edward Wintraceken. He had arranged for their 1994 marriage ceremony to be held in front of the fireplace of this beautiful station.
