BAYPORT, NY — A Bayport man was charged with animal cruelty this week after authorities said he slashed the neck of his wife's dog.

Detectives on Monday responded to a call Monday and found the dog, Miklo, had its throat slashed with a hunting knife, according to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Miklo, a 6-year-old terrier mix who's about 30 pounds, was rushed to an emergency veterinarian for treatment. The dog was released into the protective custody of Anderson's wife.
