Man Fatally Struck By Train Near Sayville
The man died after he was struck by the train early Thursday morning.
SAYVILLE, NY — A man died after being struck by a train near Sayville Thursday morning, an MTA spokesperson confirmed.
At 5:52 a.m., the 4:41 train from Southampton due Penn Station at 7:02 a.m. hit an "unauthorized person" on the tracks west of Sayville, the spokesperson stated.
Train service on the Montauk branch was suspended between Babylon and Patchogue resulting in three delayed trains.

At 7:49 a.m. service was restored on the Montauk branch with some delays and by 8:35 a.m. service was on or close to schedule.
MTA police are investigating, but preliminary investigation shows no criminality involved.
