New Oakdale Lidl Set To Open Next Week

OAKDALE, NY — Lidl's latest Long Island supermarket will be opening in Oakdale next week. The new store, located on 4560 Sunrise Highway, will host a grand opening on Oct. 28 starting at 7:40 a.m. The Oakdale location, which was comprehensively renovated, will be Lidl’s eighth store on Long Island.

In 2019, the German supermarket chain announced plans to convert some of the former Best Markets, which sold over 20 of its Long Island stores to the company, in addition to opening new locations in the area. Most recently, a new store in East Northport opened last week. Other locations also popped up in West Babylon, East Patchogue, East Meadow, Lake Grove, Plainview, Huntington, and Center Moriches.

"Lidl’s presence on Long Island has benefited consumers and the community alike," Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo said. "I welcome Lidl to Oakdale and wish them great success."

For the grand opening of the Oakdale supermarket, Lidl will donate 50 cents to the John Theissen Children’s Foundation for every new myLidl member who signs up and sets Oakdale as their home store. Also customers during the event, the first 100 customers will be presented with a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each, a selfie social media competition will be held outside of the store for a chance to win a $250 prize and Lidl food truck will be sampling snacks and juice.

"Lidl also helps lower grocery prices across the board, which is vital for Islip residents and our economy. The opening of another Lidl Supermarket signals that even in these challenging times, the Town of Islip continues to move forward."
