Sayville Schools To Go Fully-Remote All Week Due To Coronavirus
Following the holidays, all schools in the district will be closed all week after an increase COVID-19 cases.
SAYVILLE, NY — Sayville schools will be going full-remote all week due to the increase in coronavirus cases following the holidays.
"We have all been alarmed by the increasing number of COVID cases in Suffolk County. We have also seen a similar rise in numbers within the Sayville Schools community over the holiday break," Superintendent John Stimmel wrote in a message to the community. "Because of the impact these numbers have on staffing, in addition to the potential for community spread following the holidays within our schools, we have made the difficult decision to switch to remote instruction for the week of January 4th."
Starting Monday, both middle school and high school students will follow their regular schedule on-line. Elementary school students will be contacted by their teachers on Monday and will follow a remote schedule for the rest of the week.

"We regret the inconvenience that this decision may cause our families; however, it is our hope that switching to remote instruction during this critical time of the pandemic will better enable us to return to in-person instruction as quickly as possible," Stimmel wrote.
