Sayville Students Shine In NYS Earth Day Poster Contest
Sunrise Drive Elementary School students submitted creative posters that highlighted a "Greener Long Island."

Responding to an Earth-Day Poster Contest sponsored by New York State Assemblyman Jarett Gandolfo, students within District 7 submitted outstanding and creative posters that highlighted a “Greener Long Island,” among them were Sunrise Drive elementary students in Sayville. Recently, Assemblyman Gandolfo visited Sunrise Drive to recognize Molly Garafola (Grade 4) who was Sunrise Drive’s Contest Winner, along with Honorable Mentions: Matthew Shay (Grade 4), Sarah Robayo (Grade 4), Olivia O’Connell (Grade 4), and Jack Tennis (Grade 5).

Sunrise Drive Principal Dr. James Foy welcomed Assemblyman Gandolfo when he recently stopped by to award the students with his Earth Day Poster Contest certificate. Dr. Foy was very proud of the students for achieving yet another Sunrise Strong success and, in addition, acknowledged “our amazing Art Teacher, Jeanette Ainsle, who ran this contest with our students.”
Later, Assemblyman Gandolfo posted on his Facebook page: “Ended the day with another group of talented artists from Sunrise Drive Elementary School in #Sayville… looking forward to displaying the art in my district office as well in Albany!”
