Snow, -10 Degree Wind Chill Temps Loom For Long Island

Well, it is winter.

Long Island could see enough snow to make for a slippery ride to work Wednesday morning and then an Arctic air mass will sink temperatures into the single digits.

The work week starts out Monday with sunny skies and a high near 35 degrees. Tuesday we are likely to see rain in the afternoon that will continue until early Wednesday when it may change over to snow for a few hours.

Less than an inch of snow is expected to accumulate, but the timing of any snow could impact the Wednesday morning commute.

As Arctic air settles over the region, Thursday through Saturday will be mainly dry, although with a strong upper low north of the region, any disturbances rotating around it will have the potential to produce flurries and/or light snow during this period, the NWS says.

The wind chill temperature at 7 a.m. Thursday is expected be 10 degrees below zero. But at least we don't live in Chicago where wind chill temperatures this week are expected to fall to an incredible 40 degrees below zero.
