Thunderstorms Possible Sunday

See when storms may hit the area Sunday.

It will be a rainy, and possibly stormy, Sunday morning on Long Island.

"A moderate rain will mainly fall during the morning hours Sunday along and ahead of a warm front,"the National Weather Service says. "An isolated thunderstorm also can not be ruled out as instability develops aloft."

There will be a slight chance of thunderstorms from about 6 a.m. until noon Sunday. The rain should end by the evening, and then expect a dry work work ahead, the NWS says.

Saturday Night- Rain, mainly after 1am. Areas of fog after 3am. Temperature rising to around 45 by 4am. Light east wind increasing to 9 to 14 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday- Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of drizzle after noon. Areas of fog before 3pm. High near 56. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday Night- A slight chance of drizzle or light rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light west. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday- Partly sunny, with a high near 57. Southwest wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Monday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind 10 to 13 mph.

Tuesday- Sunny, with a high near 41.

Tuesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 23.

Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.

Wednesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.
