Town Officials Host Special Send Off For Local Fire Marshal
The town came out to celebrate longtime fire marshall, Dan Karl, who will be retiring after 10 years on the job.

SAYVILLE, NY — The Islip Town fire marshal received a special send off on his last day on the job last week. Dan Karl, who has worked at the fire marshal's for 10 years, recently announced his retirement.
He worked as a member of the Sayville Fire Department for over 18 years and was promoted to fire marshal II in 2018. Karl has also represented the fire marshal’s Office in 5th District Court for over five years and served in the role of safety officer for the town during major events.
In honor of all his years of service, town officials hosted the special celebration for his retirement. Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined staff of the town's fire marshal's office and public safety office and held a "walk out" as Karl left the building. Public Safety Commissioner, Anthony D'Amico and Deputy Commissioner, Tony Prudenti, and others were also in attendance at the event.

"Congratulations to Fire Marshal Dan Karl on his retirement," Carpenter said. "On behalf of the members of the Town Board and the residents of our Town, we are grateful for your service and we wish you all the best in this new chapter."
Karl was also presented with a citation at the celebration.
