Long Island Weather: When Will The Rain End?

More than 2,000 PSEG customers have lost power this morning as a strong storm system moves through. See the latest forecast.

It's a nasty, wet and pretty much just a downright miserable Monday weather-wise on Long Island. Heavy rain and strong winds are causing flooding concerns and knocking out power.

As of 10:23 a.m., there are 2,340 PSEG Long Island customers without power, most of them in Nassau County, according to the PSEG outage map.

The heaviest rain began moving through the area Monday morning with an inch of rain an hour possible at times, particularly near any thunderstorms, the NWS says. Wind gusts up to 45 mph are also possible.

The back edge of the heavier precipitation will move through from west to east between noon and 3 p.m. with mainly light showers thereafter.

The Long Island Rail Road is handling the storm as well as expected.
