It's not deja vu. Long Island will have been covered in clouds and rain for more than five straight days before sunshine returns, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.
Rain is likely to fall through Thursday morning with a chance of showers continuing through the afternoon following a powerful thunderstorm on Tuesday and more wet weather on Wednesday, the forecast shows.
Friday could be even wetter, with showers most likely starting in the afternoon and getting heavier at night.

The rain will continue into Saturday and could be joined by thunder that afternoon or evening, the NWS says. More than an inch of rain is expected to fall between Friday afternoon and Saturday evening.
Sunday will bring mostly cloudy skies, another chance of showers and a high near 75 degrees, much warmer than the preceding days, the forecast shows.

Long Islanders will finally see the sun again on Monday, when partly sunny skies and a high near 75 are expected, according to the weather service.
Here's a closer look at what to expect from the weather through the weekend, courtesy of the National Weather Service.
Thursday- Rain, mainly before 2pm. Patchy fog before 10am. High near 66. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Thursday Night- A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 8pm. Patchy fog after 9pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 56. Calm wind.
Friday- Rain likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Northeast wind 14 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Friday Night- Rain. Low around 53. East wind 14 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday- Rain before 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 63. East wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Saturday Night- Showers likely, mainly before 2am. Cloudy, with a steady temperature around 60. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Sunday- A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75.
Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.
