SCARSDALE, NY — Four employees of The Fresh Market store in Scarsdale have tested positive for the new coronavirus. According to spokeswoman Meghan Flynn, two others who were not tested are under mandatory quarantine.

She said all of the team members qualify to receive emergency pay and will receive their regular pay for up to 14 days.

The company said, when the threat of coronavirus began, a task force was established to set up detailed protocols and processes, including enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures, as well as specific steps team members should take for their well-being, their coworkers and customers.

New store hours — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. — allow for the additional deep cleaning and sanitization.

She said all store employees take hand-washing breaks every half hour, and physical distancing guidance has been placed throughout the store and at service counters and checkout.

In additional, Flynn said beginning this week plexiglass sneeze guards are being installed at the front registers.

"Our priority is to maintain the highest levels of cleanliness in our stores," she said, so we can keep our stores open and continue to serve the community, while adhering to all of the state and local health authority guidance.

"Please be assured that if we are open, we have already completed all necessary procedures following food safety and public health recommendations," Flynn said.

The store has set aside 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. as the hour reserved for high-risk individuals.
