Coronavirus: Westchester Trader Joe's Closes After Worker Dies

SCARSDALE, NY — The Trader Joe's store in Scarsdale has been closed temporarily because one of its workers died due to complications from the new coronavirus. The store is located on White Plains Road.

The grocery chain said the Scarsdale store will reopen Thursday, News 12 reported.

Trader Joe's posted a statement on its website that all crew members will be paid for their scheduled shifts while the store is closed.

The grocery chain also announced temporary closings in Garden City, Nassau County; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Bridgewater, New Jersey; Everett, Washington; and Allston, Massachusetts.

A spokesperson for the chain said the company believes "in being proactive and transparent in addressing issues, and we value information and clear communication.

"With this in mind, we have temporarily closed some stores related to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, including for additional precautionary cleaning and sanitization."

Trader Joe's said staff were working to get each store open as soon as possible and encouraged customers to visit nearby stores.
